Parets del Vallès Town Council
October-2024
Following an alert of certain bad practices associated in summary with the provision of public funds intended for the contracting of public road inspection services —in 2012 and until 2018—, the partial urbanization of a street in the municipality and the installation of video surveillance cameras on the facade of a privately owned home, the object of the investigative actions has been the examination of apparent fraudulent financing or improper use of municipal funds, from which it is concluded, first of all, that it is not possible to grasp any objective evidence that could raise any of the complaints communicated regarding the contracting of inspection services or the partial urbanization of the aforementioned street, which is why the partial archiving of the actions is resolved.
And, secondly, regarding the installation of video surveillance cameras, although the purpose and objective proposed with the aforementioned expenditure seems to be due at the outset to the need of the Town Council to provide itself with a material resource for the proper provision of the citizen security service, taking into account the time that has elapsed since the installation, which has apparently been able to continue operating, and taking into account the rest of the personal and organizational municipal circumstances that have occurred since then, once the purpose of said installation has disappeared, it could particularly benefit the ownership of the home and, in this sense, a possible improper waste of public funds or an improper use of these funds intended for the maintenance of aforementioned installation could be appreciated, which is why the issuance of a reasoned report transmitted to the Town Council is resolved, in accordance with the provisions of article 6.a) of the LOAC.
