The subject of the action initiated following a report revolves around the alleged fraudulent payment by the Catalan Health Service (CatSalut), from the beginning of 2021 to the present, of the cost of the employment contract carried out by the Hospital Mare de Déu de la Mercè (HMDM) of a person who, until his retirement, provided services in the Barcelona Health Consortium (CSB). From the actions carried out, it has been detected that, at the request of a CSB manager, the HMDM would have hired this person and the cost of the contract would have been irregularly covered with the increase in a healthcare item that CatSalut pays to HMDM through the additional clauses, approved annually, relating to the 2012 agreement signed between CatSalut, the Catalan Institute of Assistance and Social Services (ICASS) and HMDM.
